Guwahati:

1. Kamakhya Temple: To go Kamakshya Temple from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport commonly known as Guwahati airport, take an auto till Jhalukbari (per head fare was Rs. 20/- as on Jan 2020). Then take the bus to kamakshya Temple. Bus fare was also per head Rs. 20/- as on Jan 2020.
   
   From the entry gate of Kamakshya Temple, just base of the Nilachal hill ( the temple is a top of the hill & the distance is approx 3Km), one has to walk to reach the shrine. There was an auto & bus option. Auto charged us Rs. 20/- per head to reach the entry gate of the shrine.
   
   Normally there was no entry fee to enter the temple. But usually, the queue to reach the cave-like inner sanctum by stone stairs, is very long, as per the local people it takes approx 3-4 hrs to reach there. One can opt for the VIP entry which charged Rs. 501/- per head to skip the large queue.
   
   Inside, there is a sheet of stone that slopes downwards from both sides meeting in a yoni-like depression some 10 inches deep. This hollow is constantly filled with water from an underground perennial spring. This vulva-shaped depression is worshiped as the goddess Kamakhya herself.
   
2. Umananda Temple:  It is a Shiva temple located at the Peacock Island in the middle of the river Brahmaputra.
   
   As per Wikipedia,  it is known as the smallest inhabited riverine island in the world. Ferry boats that are available on the bank of Brahmaputra take the visitors to the island charged Rs. 20/- per head (to & fro). The mountain on which the temple has been built is known as Bhasmacala.
   
   The feeling of boat riding was awesome with a great view of mighty Brahmaputra. One can feel how wide the river is & imagine its' wideness in monsoon.
