The pros & cons of Government supported tour:
Advantage:
  1. You will get the best service from KMVN regarding food, lodging & transport in Indian side & the best options from Chinese side.
  2. For safety, you will get all the security & will get the chance to stay just next to ITBP camp (in India Side). For any natural disaster, you will surely be rescued by govt.
  3. The most important, High altitude acclimatization. As the itinerary is the best itinerary which helps you to acclimate your body with altitude not only India side but also in Chinese side very well. In India side, you will get medical facility everywhere & in Chinese side, you will get the high priority for medical issue.
  4. You will get Indian food throughout the tour.
  5. For trekkers, you can view the mother nature very closely.
  6. You know the package cost at the starting & it is fixed. No extra or hidden cost is there. your package cost may be reduced but not increased in between the tour.
  7. You will get the full chance of Parikrama. For the Private tour, 80% people not able to complete the parikrama either due to their health issue or permission issue or manipulated fear issue.
Disadvantage:
  1. It takes 21-24 days. Getting leave for such a long period is very tough. Sometime you feel that you don’t need to spend so much time everywhere.
  2. Journey Date is not as per your wish. You need to depends on scheduled date by MEA/KMVN
  3. You can not go any place which is not included in itinerary.
The pros & cons of Private operated tour:
Advantage:
  1. You need only 10 to 15 days.
  2. No bar in age limit
  3. You can reach till Kathmandu (Nepal) by your own & opt the tour as per your suitable dates
  4. You can plan your tour as per your convenience & tour operators suggestion.
  5. No Medical checkup is required.
  6. You can go some nearby places also. Sometime tour operators add places  (mainly religious places) in their itinerary.
  7. Tour operators provides Jacket & raffle bag free.
Disadvantage:
  1. You can complete the trip as per your health condition. As there is no proper acclimatization process so max people not able to complete it successfully.  We have seen some group of people 35 and among only 11 was able to complete it.
  2. There is only go n touch option available.

So, the summary is, if you don’t have High BP, High Sugar, asthma, Knee problems & you are able to walk 4-6km at a time and don’t expect 5-star treatment in such harsh high mountain region, then you are the best person to join in this expedition.

Some state also provided subsisidy to the pilgrims. To get the more information click here.
