North East - Land of Peace

Northeast India, comprises eight states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, is the easternmost region of India.

'The Seven Sister' is a popular term for the contiguous states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura prior to inclusion of the state of Sikkim into the North Eastern Region of India. The region is the valley of Brahmaputra-Barak river systems and their tributaries; The altitude varies from almost sea-level to over 7,000 meters (23,000 ft) above MSL( Mean Sea Level).

This is the land of undulating hills and plains with a luxuriant green cover and a wide variety of rare and exotic flora and fauna. These mostly unexplored formidable terrain consisting of mountains, hills, rainforests, rivers, jungles, and predators. This is the motherland of the highest biodiversity, found anywhere in the world.

Transport:
To reach Northeast, Assam (Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, Guwahati), Tripura (Agartala Airport), Manipur (Imphal Airport) and Nagaland (Dimapur Airport) have direct flights from other parts of India (Delhi and/or Kolkata). Though Guwahati & Agartala is on the cheaper side. Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are the only states in the region with rail lines. There are good train connections from most of the major Indian cities to Assam. Traveling by train is a cheaper option but it takes a lot of time.
