Nabidhang

27th June 2018: I woke up at about 4 am due to pee. It was my daily routine to wake up once or twice at night. At 4 am it was quite dark & it was drizzling. Just pray to God ‘no rain Please please please…’ Might be God heard my prayers. When we started for Nabidhang which was approx 9km, the sky was cloudy.

Kabindra was not till arrived, so I had started my journey towards the Nabhidhang as I knew his stay option was on our way. After 5 mins of walking, I met him. On our way, there were some yaks. Kabindra told me these are not wild but not domestic also. After crossing a hanging bridge, we had to cross a slope. Due to yesterday rain, it was totally muddy & tough to trek. He held my hands & help me to the rode. It started to drizzling. There was a rain shed. He asked me to wear my raincoat. As usual, I am callus wearing a raincoat. He helped me to wore it & forced me to wear the leg part of raincoat also.

With the help of Kabindra, I was able to cross the muddy hilly area. I was too much exhausted. So took the rest several times. Though it was not rough terrain, it sucked me a lot. The rain was stopped & the Sun said ‘hi’ to all of us. After approx 2 km of a walk, there was some ascent terrain. I was so exhausted, that I prayed to GOD to come & lifted me. After crossing the ascent, there was a green meadow covered with purple colour wildflowers. Somewhere yellow flowers also removing the boredness of purple. I visited Valley of Flowers (Uttarakhand) but this valley is far beautiful than VOF. I was amazed. The view with a chocolate bar gave me some energy.

On our way, Kabindra found the clear view of Nag Parvat with a snow-clad back view. This time I was easily able to recognize it. Then we saw the famous Om Parvat. It was so clear that I was able to view it. I already saw this in google image & was in thought that it was photoshopped rather than natural. But this time I had no other option to accept that it is natural. The view was awesome.

Some yatris started to screaming at the name of Lord Shiva. Maybe I am not a religious person, so the screaming was not gladly accepted by me. The silence only with the birds cheeping could magnify the nature. No human shouting felt me glad though it was the name of the God. Kabindra asked me to notice the ‘Nabhi’ of Goddess Sati. But I was not able to recognize it. Though I took several pictures to understand it in the future.

We took some photos & continued our walking. within half an hour, we reached Nabhidhang KMVN camp. But before entering camp we need to log our name in ITBP register. At the entrance, we offered hot tea. For girls, there was also an igloo type room containing 5 beds. I grabbed an igloo for Enakshi, Soma, Shruti & Netra. We had added an extra bed & adjusted for Smiriti.

From our room, OM parvat was clearly visible. But after some time the sky, as well as OM parvat, totally was covered by clouds. It was drizzling outside. I took a nap. I knew I had to be fit for next days stretch as it would be the toughest stretch of this yatra. I woke up only for Lunch & pee. In the afternoon, the sky was a little bit clear, but I was not able to go outside due to my painful legs. I felt that these were not my own legs.

After dinner, we understand that our Igloo is not worth as it was dropping water. As the KMVN person not able to provide an alternate option, so our LO Narayan Kutty suggested to shift in his room. Soma & I shifted to his room. It was a quite hot & comfortable room as the inner part was totally wooden. Our LO already declared we needed to start at about 2am tomorrow as we had to reach Lipulekh pass before 7:00 am. So we had only a few hours to sleep. I knew I needed a good sleep to complete the coming trek. I just prayed to GOD & slept.
