Day 5 – Pithoragarh
21st June 2018: It is World Yoga Day. Our LO Narayan Kutty was
already declared on 20th that next day we would celebrate this day as
‘Yoga Day’ & maybe there would some reporters will covers the
program. When yatris came to know about the ‘reporters’, their interest
was doubled.
But I am a lazy girl!!! 😝 Only TMT test can be energized me…nothing else. So, as usual, I woke up at about 6:00 am. It was a cool day. We used a light blanket the previous night. I just opened the curtain near my bed. As Amit was not here otherwise he would like to scold me for opening the window as the whole room can be seen from outside which spoiled the privacy of the room.
The open window gave me a spectacular view of mountains with a cared garden in front of our room. The KMVN Guesthouse at Almora really a great place for enjoying the nature with leisure.
Anyway, bed tea was served within 15 mints. Like Imran Khan (who hates ‘Love Story’) I also ‘hate Tea'(😈)…We took our bath as there was hot water available in the bathroom. Please imagine in Delhi the temperature was above 45 & at Almora, I was taking a hot water bath. Anyway, after the bath, we wore the orange color T-shirt, got from Ghaziabad yesterday, as Enakshi confirmed to us, that our LO requested to all yatris to wear it.
We gathered in front of the reception & saw that yoga session was already started. Mr. Munish Singh who declared himself as Guruji to lead a mindful life previously. We, 3 Musketeers, took the last rows. Though I love to take the 1st row in any meeting…but for the Yoga, I thought the last row is the best place. At that time meditation session was going on.
I am disclosing here a secret of my life… when people suggest feeling the ‘heart’, the ‘Kidney’ or the ‘Lunges’, I always feel I am the heartless, kidneyless & lunges-less person as I am never able to feel them. The person who instructed the people to feel the path of the air inside your ‘brain’, I was again realized that I am ‘brainless’ also. I don’t know how people feel all these but I know definitely, I am seriously dumb regarding this matter. To feel this organ I know I have to go long way!!! Am I able to reach the destination ever? Anyway, I am happy with my heartless, kidneyless, lunges-less & new addition ‘brainless’ body.
After 15-20 mins of yoga, the instructor declared the end of the yoga session.
There were some reporters from some local TV or newspapers. They asked some questions(add the prefix ‘stupid’ ) to some yatris!! Like ‘How are you feeling?’ or ‘Why do you take the decision to perform this Yatra?’ I skipped those reporters & reached the dining room. The breakfast was ready. It was Puri, Sabji, Dalia, bread along with Tea, Coffee.
At about 8:00 am, we resume our bus journey again. Today our destination was Pithoragarh. At about 10:00 am we reached Banoli TRH(Tourist Rest House). LO Narayan Kutty declared to take tea, but it was paid service. Mr. Munshi Ji declared that he would like to pay the bill of tea for yatris. Induben from Gujrati group distributed some Lichi.
When the journey again started, nature started to show her real beauty on both sides of the road, but specially on the right side towards Pithoragarh. The view was awesome at the starting but after some time there were lots of curves. I was not feeling well due to lots of curves. Shruti was my co-passenger. She asked me to take raisins which were really helpful at that time.
After some time, the bus stopped roadside where there was a source of water. There was some water source up above the mountain & the water comes at that place through a large pipe. Everyone washed their face on that water. I also came down from the bus & washed my face with this cold water. It gave some relief.
We reached Pithoragarh KMVN rest house at about 1:00 pm. The KMVN person asked us to take lunch as our baggage was not reached till that time. We took our lunch. After that our room committee allotted us room. This time it was 4 sharing basis. Enakshi, Soma, Netrawati & me was allotted a single room. It was room no.108 the corner room in the ground floor. I was too tired. So I took the towel & went to the bathroom. This time again the hot water was available. Again I took bath. There was also an option to dry the clothes. Actually, I hate to put the wet clothes in the bag, it smells horrible…
Our LO told us we would be evacuated by heli as the 1st batch complained that the road condition was not okay. So from govt decided to heli evacuated from Pithoragarh to Gunji 2nd batch onward. We also came to know that this heli evacuation was free for us. But there was some restriction regarding total luggage. Per person, only 12 Kg was allowed. We must put our extra luggage in Pithoragarh.
Everyone started to pack & unpack their bags. I felt at that time there was some group was formed. One of it was Gujrati group as approx 15 persons from Gujrat. At about 3:00 pm we got our backpack. Shruti had previous experience. She suggested what should be pack & what should not. After some time Mr. Ashok Radia, who had 22 yrs of experience to travel Kailash, asked us to take mangoes which he carried from his hometown. He told he carried these for ITBP, but as there was weight restriction, so it was not possible. I took 2 pieces of mangoes. It was too testy… We had asked to submit bags at about 8:00 pm. There was a temple near Pithoragarh Rest house & also a place to pay respect for the martyred soldiers. It is the memorial to honor the fallen heroes of Kumaon regiment during the battle. There was lot of cemented stone where the name of those soldiers were written who scarifies their life for mother India from starting to today. We lited candle their & sang national song.
We took our dinner at about 9:20 pm. It contains roti, rice, bin sabji & simai. Smiriti was shifted in our room & we go to our bed.
