Day 4 – Almora
20th June 2018: I opened my eyes to the mobile alarm. Took a bath & got ready for the trip. With the help of my husband, I had completed my packing. As the finishing touch, he put my backpack inside the polythene bag provided by KMVN & packed tightly with rope.
We reached Gujarati Samaj At about 4:00 am. & submitted the luggage there. There was an arrangement of Hawan. Every yatri of the 3rd batch was nearly the place. Amit also religious, so he instructed me to just seat there. Though I strongly believe in God, don’t find the meaning of their so-called hawan & things. So I always prefer to bypass it. So though I was sitting there, but thinking how to by-pass it. Suddenly, our LO Narayan Kutty felt there. He was senseless for some moment. Everyone there was a little bit anxious. After the hawan, the banana was distributed to all of us.
We started our journey at 6:00 am. I waved bye to my hubby. Though I was super excited, my eyes were full of tears obviously for my hubby.
Our next stoppage was Ghaziabad, Hotel West View. We came to know that peoples from Ghaziabad who already performed Kailash Mansarovar yatra wanted to see off us. So we would take our breakfast there.
We reached Ghaziabad at about 8:00 am. When we reached there, it was amazing. They treated us like God!! It felt to me, that I had done some great work…the welcome was awesome. They distribute the photo of panch (five) Kailash & a T-shirt. First time I came to know that like Panch(five) Kedar, there is panch (five) Kailash also. I had already done one of the Kailash “Mani Mahesh Kailash” also. I did not know I was so religious…I went to Mani Mahesh twice just like a trek. They gave us the breakfast containing puri, sabji, banana & sweets.
We left for Almora at about 9:20 am. It was an A/c Volvo bus. so bus journey was not a painful journey. At an about 11:00 am, we took a short break for toilet near a Bikanerwala sweets shop, near Gajraula. One of the yatri distributed some sweet to all of us. It was a an awesome sweet. We reached Kathgodam at about 2:00 pm. We received a very warm welcome from The KMVN personal. Our lunch was waiting there. We were served some kumaoni dal which was different in taste also. We had asked to change the bus, as the Volvo did not continue the journey onward. We had shifted another small bus which had no A/c. But you never expect A/c in the mountain. Actually no need also.
We crossed Bhimtal which we saw from our bus window. Our guide Deepak was with us on our bus. On the way, there was a temple named by “Kainchi Dham” where Neem Karoli Baba spend stayed in the last decade of his life, was built in 1964 with a Hanuman temple(as per Wiki). We had missed Golu baba temple as our guide did not notice it.
We reached Almora at about 7:30 pm. At per our room committee, we were allotted 1 three bed room sharing basis. I shared the room with Enakshi & Soma. There were 1 king size bed & 1 low single bed. I took the low bed. It was not clear the outside view as it was dark, we could view only the several light point surrounding the area. At first our soup was served. the weather was quite cool. So hot corn soup was tasted yummy. I called my mom. When I told her that I was in Almora, she was happy, as I had already visited the place. Her voice clearly told me, that she was quite convinced that I was till in known place. We took our dinner at about 9 pm. In Dinner, there was an option to get the Uttarakhand famous ‘Bal Mithai’. As expected I took two & went to bed as we were damn tired. After some chit-chat, we slept.
