Gunji Again

6th July 2018: Today is the last day in Tibet. As per our itinerary, today we would go back to India. We have started our journey after breakfast. The buses left Taklakot as soon as we boarded. We said Goodbye to Dharampal Ji & other team members of Suraj. Suraj along with two of his team member went with us. They would go with us to Lipulekh boarder.

The road was the same mountainous curve. But the drivers are so experienced that sometimes they went to the backward direction. Too much scary for the viewers especially when you were on the next bus which will follow the same path.

After 1 hr. we reached Lipulekh pass. Suraj & his team said Goodbye. It was a touching moment. I know most probably I will not meet Suraj ever in my lifetime but I will remember him always. We took a picture. I met Kabindra, my porter at India side. We also meet the next batch yatris.

After the farewell, we started our journey towards Gunji. Today Our destination was Gunji & we need to cover approx 30Km. Now the path was descending so it would not be too tough. Within 1 hr I reached Nabidhang. We took some snacks there along with a glass of tea.

We, Kabindra & me, took half an hour rest. Next destination was Kalapani. Here we again got the view of famous "Om Parvat". I took a lot of photos again. This time I was not exhausted or tired. Due to the descending road, we did not take any rest in between. Just easy walking was enough. I enjoyed the roadside view. The sky touching mountains, the wildflowers were awesome. We reached Kalapani approx 1pm. The manager of Kalapani KMVN greeted me with a cold rhododendron juice. He asked me to take lunch.

I took the lunch. The taste of Indian food gave me another happiness. After tasing the well-known raita I felt how I was missing my India. After lunch, there was an army post, where we need to get stamp our passport. I stamped it & continued our journey. Now the destination is Gunji.

Now the Sun was at the top of my head. The scorching sunlight and the monotonous road were the only problems. But the flowing river added the extra salt in the boring trek. There were some local laborers who were repairing the road, some were relaxing under the tree. Found some locals who were collecting wood from the river.

At about 2:30 pm we reached Gunji KMVN. We took shelter in the same room with the same roommates. I was the 2nd one to reach the room. No one was there except Shruti. I gave the remaining charges to Kabindra with some tips & remaining chocolates also.

I just seated in front of our room. Just chit-chat with other yatris & came to know it was raining Pithoragarh. We were served soup in the evening & lunch approx 8pm. We went to the bed approx 9pm.
